Sunday, Nov. 9, Chen Family Academy and Shamian Island

Willow likes to use this colander and kids' Doraemon chopsticks as a shield when playing with Jeff.

Helen, our hard-working guide, providing a narrative about Chinese culture and the Chen Family Academy.

Willow gets happier and happier each day.  Her t-shirt says "Tao Hao Yu" and was a gift from the Beijing guide (who we missed because we skipped the Beijing tour this time.)

At the Chen Family Academy.  It is a collection of ornate buildings, artwork, and gardens to honor the Chen ancestors.

After a rest in the room, we took a cab to Shamian Island for the evening.

Ariel has permanent teeth coming in, so biting on the Ergo carrier gives her relief.

The Starbuck's is new.  This is the main center pedestrian street on the island.  Beautiful with shady trees and gardens.

At the Carefree Vegetarian Restaurant, formerly Cow & Bridge Thai restaurant.

 Near beer.

Spicy noodles, veggies, lotus root, rice.  My favorite was the lotus root.

Shamian Island view of the Pearl River.

Super-walker Willow.
