Saturday, Nov. 8: Medical exam and Carrefour

Our first morning in Guangzhou, we returned to the marvelous breakfast buffet.  Here's where we see our travel friends and meet other adoptive families.

We met Helen at 9 to drive to the medical exam place.  This medical exam basically clears them for travel to the US.  It was in a new building from last time (not on Shamian Island, but near the US Consulate.)  It was very nice, but hot and crowded, so I quickly zipped off my pant legs and put my hair up.

We had the same nice doctor we had in 2010 for Ariel.

Willow had to go in a room with 2 nurses for her TB test blood draw.  She was brave.

Once Ariel figured out she was exempt from this medical exam, she was happy and laughing with Jeff.

Afterward, Helen took us to the Carrefour supermarket.  We were here last time with Ariel and posed for another photo by the watermelons.

Dragonfruit (pitaya), a favorite Asian tropical fruit of mine.  Jeff had the produce weighed and priced at the weigh station.  He had to be very assertive because everyone, including Helen, wanted to cut in line ahead of him.

Frogs and turtles in the meat section.
