Sayonara, Jeff

Sunday, Jeff left for the USA for training. But Ariel & I will visit him this fall before his deployment.

It was cold and strong.

It was hard to have a passionate kiss with everyone looking on! And it was blazing hot. But we managed.

He's off!
We'll miss him, but will be seeing him soon and Skyping a lot.

Moritown

For Jeff's last afternoon home, we went to Moritown Mall area.
Watching the cardboard playground and maze (a special exhibit.)

dinner at Hamazushi, a new sushi train (where you sit and grab the plates you want from a conveyer belt)

grown-up "juice"

Ariel had peas & sweet potatoes. We had to be careful to keep peas and wasabi separate for her!

helping Dad get ready

"I'm going to miss sitting in your lap and playing with your patches."

The exersaucer is going to neighbor Cherie, who is also adopting. Good thing Ariel visits her for babysitting sometimes. This has been a great toy, but Ariel is outgrowing it.

"Dad, just pack what you need and we can send you anything you forget."

Jeff's whistling makes her smile.

tamago

(eggs)
Ariel recently discovered the toy eggs on her farm.

Her cool t-shirt is from neighbor Brandi, the cheer-mama. She has 3, and this one says "I Cheer at 3 AM."

"I won't drop it!"

On to the piano.
These diapers are "Genki" brand, and have Anpanman characters on them. They are pull-up style, but tear apart at the sides for easy removal. She likes them!

mealtime

Anpanman dishes from Yoko & family!

Clockwise from top: Jam Ojisan, Shokpanman, Dokinchan, Anpanman, Baikinman, Karepanman (I think.)

She eats from it every day.

But there's still some time for bottle.

Not quite ready for the cup, or holding her own bottle. That's fine with us. No need to rush her babyhood - we waited so long and so did she.

our cupcake

Still celebrating the big day in a furry, sparkly cupcake shirt from Aunt Debbie.
Updating wills at the legal office. We both dressed up and did our hair for the occasion.

Super-balance!

at Joyful Honda, again

On Friday night, Joyful Honda wasn't crowded at all (a nice change!)

parallel play with Doraemon

Ariel & Doraemon were playing side-by-side. This video catches the tail-end of their session, as Ariel pauses to kiss him.

a busy day

We attended a pre-deployment briefing at the Family Center. Looks like Ariel & I will get lots of perks (free dinners, outings, and oil changes) while Jeff's away. They gave us tips on coping with the stress and separation of deployment.

waiting for playmate Regina
Regina is an early childhood education specialist. She gives us ideas for fun & educational ways to play with Ariel. Ariel thinks Regina is neat, but boy is she tired afterward!

Birthday part II

Since Jeff got home, we've been busy with Ariel's birthday, Jeff's jetlag, and taking care of life details. These are his last 2 weeks home before his 2.5 months stateside training and 1 year deployment. So we have lots to square away. Sorry if we haven't gotten back to you. As of this photo shoot, we hadn't checked mail, so not all her wonderful cards and gifts are pictured.
"Thank you for the pretty cards!"
One was glittery, and she rubbed it on her head.
Birthday clothes compliments of Grandma Barb and Papa Rich.

some of her gifts from Jeff, Grandma Barb & Papa Rich, JoAnn in Wisconsin
Is it obvious she's an animal lover?!

cake time!
(my lens fogged up just as I walked outside)

She was contemplative about her birthday wish.

"Eewww"

"What am I supposed to do with this?"

Serious thoughts about taking on Year Two.

clean up time!
It was so hot. We went to the big pool that evening.

Happy Birthday, sweet Ariel! We love you so much.

to the pool!

After her birthday cake, we went swimming. We pass the East Chapel and Teen Center on our short walk to the Natatorium (indoor pool complex.)

She's a natural in the water. There's a baby pool, but we can take her in the regular pool, too.

Her mermaid swimsuit is a hand-me-down from half-Aussie Alana. It is Australian size zero.

We all slept very well!
