On Halloween, we went straight to "Halloween Street" in our neighborhood. The police block traffic on this street, and two brothers (one also named Jeffrey Parks) who are engineers have a super Halloween set-up in their front yard and their neighbor's yard. They have robotic vehicles in the street that kids can play with. The brothers talk up science and engineering to the kids. Their display isn't too scary, mostly fun with some '70s and '80s movie characters and computers.
This year, Ariel recycled her Afghan Princess outfit that Jeff's Afghan co-workers gave us a couple years ago. She loves trick-or-treating (carrying her basket, going door-to-door, asking for candy.) She spent the next week playing with her candy (dumping the basket and kicking candy around the floor with the cats) but she is not interested in eating it. That's our girl!
