Nene arrived Sunday, September 25th, from a shelter near Kyoto. Her "shelter dad", David, talked with me on the phone about Ralph's personality, and suggested Nene as a possible sister. Although her profile on their website (see link: Nene) says she might like to be adopted with her (possible) sister, Peaches, David said she isn't attached to Peaches and wants a people family. So I said, "She's the one!" Nene is about 8 years old. Her name is slang for "ohne-chan" which means "big sister."
We settled Nene in her own bedroom, while Ralph investigated smells of the carrier and people.

Susan and Jim
Susan runs the cat shelter where Nene lived (along with her husband, David) and works tirelessly for Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS). Jim works here at Yokota, but volunteers a lot for JEARS. Susan now spends most of her time in and near the disaster area north of us rescuing now-homeless animals. She stayed with us for a couple days to take a rest and help Nene adjust. At first, Nene hid between the bed and wall.
After a few days, Ralph decided to hang out with her!
sweet Nene
Welcome to our family!
