(Devils out! happiness/good luck in!)
Today is Setsubun, the beginning of spring in Japan. They celebrate by tossing dried soybeans around the house (or at temples) and out the doors and yelling "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" The parents can wear funny devil masks and chase the kids around the house. This is my favorite Japanese holiday. And Groundhog Day is my favorite American "holiday."
Although the weather will stay chilly for a while, we already spotted trees blossoming pink.
This is also Lunar New Year time (this year.) Happy Year of the Rabbit! We're not sure how to celebrate yet, but have ideas up our sleeves.
This time last year, we thought we might get the referral for Ariel. But we missed the cutoff by one day (April 5, 2006, and we were April 6, 2006.) We knew we were next!
